Revitalizing the Murchison Road corridor involves coordinated work across City departments. Proposed Cross Creek channel improvements being evaluated by the City's Public Services Department could help reduce flooding near Murchison Road and the City’s Catalyst Site I, supporting the broader neighborhood investment envisioned through Murchison Choice.
The flood comparison map on slide 9 shows how the proposed improvements could reduce the area affected by a 100-year flood event. Reducing flood risk would help protect nearby properties and infrastructure while improving conditions for future development along the corridor.
The project also offers opportunities to improve public spaces and connections to downtown. Draft concept images illustrate what creekside paths and gathering areas could look like, with further planning, coordination, and funding needed to move the improvements forward.
